Gloria

"I was born and raised in Southern California, mostly Orange County.  I worked for the telephone company right after high school as a long distance operator.  I left there when I married in 1966 and had my daughter in 1967.  When that marriage ended I went to work for the County of Orange where I worked for almost 27 years in Human Resources in a variety of functions.  I married my present husband in 2001 after knowing him and being close friends for over 40 years (since we were 13).  Our blended family consists of 3 daughters, 1 son, 2 grandsons, 1 grandmother, 1 son-in-law, the two of us, 2 cats and 1 black lab.  Bill and I moved to Murrieta in June of 2006 shortly after I was diagnosed with both uterine and breast cancer.  After surgery, chemo and radiation I am now cancer free and a 2 year survivor.  I decided to volunteer for Michelle's Place because of the outstanding work they do with those who are going through the hell of cancer.  The staff and volunteers were very nice to me and i lvoed the calls to see how I was doing.  Volunteering for them is the least I can do and I will continue doing it as long as I can."
