Volunteer - Dina

  Dina

Dina Duran may be a new volunteer with Michelle’s Place but she has always been involved with helping people. Not long ago she held a fundraiser for a fellow bowler’s family raising $1,600 to help with medical expenses after his sudden death.

She worked as a store manager at Payless Shoe Stores in Hemet for 21 years and was very active in the Operation School Bell charity which provides vouchers for needy children to receive shoes and other school necessities. Under her direction, Operation School Bell increased over ten-fold, helping 1,200 children a year.

What brought Dina to Michelle’s Place was her boyfriend, Chris Hunt, an avid golfer and tournament winner in four of the nine golf tournament fundraisers put on by Michelle’s Place.

“I had served as a team captain for the Komen Race for the Cure, and had known about Michelle’s Place, but when I noticed Chris’ golf trophies from his involvement with Michelle’s Place, I wanted to become active as a volunteer here in Murrieta,” Dina explained.

Dina’s passion is bowling where she competes at the amateur level and bowls with three different local leagues. She competed in the Women’s State Tournament and placed third and began competing in the Nationals two years ago.

Look for Dina Thursday mornings when she volunteers in the office and at various Michelle’s Place fundraising events.
