Debra
I grew up in Southern California and love the ocean, mountains and deserts. My husband, Loy, and I moved to Lake Elsinore after living in Phoenix , AZ , for several years. My husband is my best friend. And like all best friends we always share with each other. We share the fun of fishing, fly fishing & hiking together. We share the joy our three grandchildren give us.
April 1st, 2009, I was told I had stage III/IV breast cancer. One thing I never thought we’d share. We were in shock. I had no idea what to expect and felt like I had to make spur-of-the-minute decisions about my treatment and who my doctors would be. The only thing I was sure of was that I would have chemotherapy. In a way, we shared that, too.
I can’t remember exactly how I heard of Michelle’s Place, but I soon was to become a fan. I’d been looking for a way I could be of help to others. I became a volunteer for Michelle’s Place. I am a volunteer because I want to spread the word of its good works and kindly people. I want to help make the journey through breast cancer treatments less lonely. Hopefully, someone in need will get help and support, too.
Fight like a girl!
