Bonnie
"My name is Bonnie and I have been married to my husband, Mike, for 42 years and have one grown son. I started volunteering at Michelle's Place about two years ago, working in the office and participating in the Public Relations Program.
A brief outline about myself. I am a 25 year breast cancer survivor and author of a book I wrote about my experience with breast cancer. A retired bank officer after many years in loan and operations administration. Owned and operated two ladies consignment boutiques and currently a sales rep. for a leading pet food company. Most of all, I enjoy volunteering for Michelle's Place, the Breast Cancer Resource Center. I spread the word so everyone knows where we are and what we do.
I am very blessed to be a part of Michelle's Place. I did not have a place like this to go for support...it just didn't exist and a lot of people didn't want to talk about breast cancer. Michelle's Place has changed all that. They are compassionate and caring, like family. It is such a wonderful feeling to be able to help women going through breast cancer, whether they are newly diagnosed or wish on-going support through treatment and beyond, we offer a friendly and comfortable place for them to turn to and I love being a part of it. This has been the most wonderful experience of my life. When they walk out the door and I see a smile on their face, it is the most rewarding feeling one can imagine. Even during telephone conversations with them, where I can't see their face, I can tell if I've made a difference or at least 'made their day.'"
