Shiloh Tkachyk-Milks - Survivor

Shiloh Tkachyk-Milks

At 27 years of age, Shiloh was diagnosed with Stage IIB breast cancer.

Many women Shiloh's age would have agreed when her nurse practitioner said after her exam, "you have lumpy breasts."  Shiloh insisted on having a diagnostic ultrasound ordered and after a "suspicious" reading, another ultrasound was performed ultimately leading to a biopsy and finally her diagnosis.  Without Shiloh's persistence, her breast cancer would have been discovered much later.

"I found Michelle's Place because I was looking for a wig.  Cheryl was helping me and I just broke down.  The support from all the women at Michelle's Place has been the best thing. Throughout my chemo treatment I would walk in and just talk with whoever was there and let them know what was going on with me.  They would call me to see how I was doing.  I needed a ride to get blood work done and they helped me out.  No job is too big for them and they have always come through for me.

It's like Michelle's Place has an unconditional love they have portrayed to me. If I was feeling desperate or sad they would listen to me and tell me everything was going to be okay.  It is a blessing to have that support."

Shiloh's message to other women is, "Be your own health advocate and have any health concerns checked out.  It could save your life!"
