In 1994 at the age of 6, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The surgery was horrendous as was the chemo and radiation. There was the bone marrow extraction and spinal taps. The radiation was extensive and took my hair. I've had to wear wigs since then. I'm happy to be alive in spite of everything. Even though I've had to live with the side effects of my treatment, I stay positive. It beats being down in the dumps for something I don't have any control over. I have found that I can control my disposition and choose to be happy. I went to Michelle's Place with my mom and they offered me two wigs. I can't tell you how happy this made me. Everyone at Michelle's Place was so sweet and kind. They have so much understanding and love. My mom has breast cancer and I know they made her feel comforted. I love it when people share their stories, it makes you feel not so alone. You feel a bond with that person that can last a lifetime. The women who work at Michelle's Place are very special. They have to be, look at what they do.
