In October 2007 I discovered a lump in my breast. I almost ignored it because 10 years earlier I felt a lump. It was on my other side and by the time I went through all the proper channels it turned out to be nothing. So last October while I was telling my older daughter about the lump, she urged me to get a mammogram, and I almost fluffed it off. Instead I called around and found a place to get a mammogram. Well, this time it turned out to be something. I was given an ultrasound and then a biopsy. It was cancer. It has only been about 8 days since my surgery. I haven't even been to the surgeon yet for my post-op visit. I do know I will be having radiation for sure. One thing I can say is, this has been a positive experience. From the beginning, I've had good doctors, a great surgeon, and many people from church wishing me well and letting me know they're there for me, friends and family surrounding me with their love and support. My experience with Michelle's Place was extraordinary. I walked through the door a stranger and left befriended knowing they were there for me, and they have been. They always have time to listen to my concerns and provide words of encouragement. I'm so thankful to the staff at Michelle's Place for helping me along my journey with breast cancer. Each one there was so positive and caring and always had a smile for me. I was given a wig, tool box, books, head coverings, and makeup with a can do spirit. To know these lovely ladies is to love them and Michelle's Place.
